About A Bit About Fish Hoek

OVERVIEW

Join a small group for a relaxed guided walk along Fish Hoek’s shoreline, including the iconic Jager’s Walk—known affectionately by locals as the Cat Walk. Along the way, discover the people, places and events that have shaped one of Cape Town’s most remarkable bays.

Full Description

Meet your guide at the Dolphin Statue, opposite the ice cream counter at The Galley Restaurant, where registration and a brief introduction to the walk take place.

From there, enjoy a short stroll to the first stop. Over a complimentary hot beverage and sweeping views across False Bay, your guide will introduce the story of Fish Hoek exploring how the bay’s geology, unique environment and the remarkable discovery of Fish Hoek Man reveal a history stretching back thousands of years.

The walk then continues along the beachfront, where you’ll discover the traditions of the local fishing community, pioneering shark safety initiatives and the volunteer lifesavers who have helped shape Fish Hoek’s unique coastal identity.

From there, follow the iconic shoreline path officially known as Jager’s Walk, but affectionately called the Cat Walk by locals. Along the way, enjoy spectacular coastal views while uncovering the people, places and events that have shaped one of Cape Town’s most remarkable bays.

The experience concludes with a relaxed return to the starting point, giving you time to enjoy the scenery, ask questions and reflect on the stories you’ve discovered.
