SAMA-nominated artist and seasoned blues-rock gunslinger Basson Laubscher needs little introduction on the South African alternative blues and rock scene. A grizzled veteran of a long and storied road, Laubscher first made his mark with Afrikaans rock legends Zinkplaat, before lending his talents to acclaimed artists such as Valiant Swart, The Blues Broers, and many others. Along the way, he forged a voice unmistakably his own.

Laubscher’s music blends the raw passion and grit of the blues with a deep love of rock ’n roll, seasoned with a touch of country soul. On 21 February, he brings that sound to one of Cape Town’s hidden gems, The Alma Café, for a rare intimate, stripped-down, and unplugged performance with The Violent Free Peace.
