BETWEEN THE SOIL & THE SKY
Between The Soil & The Sky is an exploration of the space between what holds you down and what opens above you. Thresholds. The place where roots and atmosphere meet, where the material and the immaterial are still in negotiation. The condition of being alive.
Join us at The Flat (Ganesh) for an evening of live poetry, experimental sound, and Afro-folk music featuring:
Earth & Ether is a live, largely improvised convergence of spoken word and music. Page Dina’s poetry – intimate, precise, rooted in spirit and the persistent fact of inhabiting a body – forms the core of the work. Callum Kuhl answers with sound that is orchestral in ambition and cinematic in weight. Each iteration of Earth & Ether introduces a new musician to the mix, this time bringing in Danél Murcott, whose clarinet and flute bring breath and melody into the space between them. The musicians listen to the poetry as it’s spoken and respond in real time. Nothing is fixed. What emerges is something closer to ceremony than concert – and deliberately unrepeatable.
Siso Nkambule is an Afro-folk musician from eSwatini whose soulful voice and storytelling have graced stages and festivals across Southern Africa. Drawing on rural Swati life, spirituality, and social reflection, his music blends African folk, West African rhythms, and African jazz, sung in siSwati.
