Coffee & Clay is a guided pottery workshop, where you’ll learn decorating techniques from real ceramic artists.

What you’ll end up with: your own beautiful ceramic mug (we’re 90% sure it’ll be your future favourite mug)

– Demos on simple decorating techniques that take the guesswork out of creativity
– Easy-to-use tools, like templates, stencils, other nifty tricks of the trade
– Inspiration pictures to spark your imagination and get those creative ideas flowing

– Help and guidance throughout the process, so you’re not left high and dry

You’ll also get to do all your creating inside the cutest, coziest cafe in Cape Town. Warm and toasty by the heater, with a complimentary cup of coffee and a sweet treat to make your whimsical Coffee & Clay experience complete. Brunch is also available to order from Picnic Café if all that creativity works up an appetite. All you have to do is show up and have fun. We’ll take care of the rest.

Your finished mug will be glazed, fired and ready for collection a few weeks later.

Oh, and by the way, Montebello Design Centre is absolutely magical, so you might want to make a day of it. Take some time to explore the beautiful wood sculptures under the giant trees. Browse the creative studios and shops, and visit the plant nursery. Pick up some fresh organic vegetables from the farm stand, or grab lunch at the Gardener’s Cottage. Honestly, it’s a pretty great way to spend the day.
