Craig Lucas is a Cape Town–based pop singer-songwriter known for his emotionally honest lyrics, powerful vocals, and deeply personal live performances. A former winner of The Voice SA, Craig has built a loyal following through original music that blends big pop hooks with detailed, confessional storytelling.
This special live show is a celebration of pop love stories — the ones we live, the ones we write, and the ones that shape us. At the heart of the night is Craig’s single “1989”, a playful, heartfelt pop anthem inspired by his lifelong love of pop music and storytelling. While the song was released late last year, this show offers audiences a fresh way to experience it — in conversation with the music, moments, and influences that gave it life.
The performance weaves together Craig’s original songs — including fan favourites such as Happy, Smother, Anti-Social, Better, and Hearts Exposed — with select songs by one of his biggest songwriting influences, Taylor Swift. Expect everything from iconic classics like Love Story and All Too Well (the 10-minute version, obviously), to intimate deep cuts and personal favourites, including This Love, Tim McGraw, peace, and Daylight.
Alongside familiar originals, Craig will also debut new, unreleased songs shaped by the same emotional honesty, specificity, and vulnerability that define his songwriting today. Beyond the music, this event is also held in support of the Warren and Arlene Lucas Foundation, a community-based organisation working to strengthen early childhood development initiatives on the Cape Flats. 10% of the net income from the show will be donated to the Foundation, supporting its work with young children, families, and early learning centres in under-resourced communities.
This is not a tribute show and not a covers night. It’s an intimate pop storytelling experience — for Swifties, for fans of Craig’s original music, and for anyone who believes the best songs are the ones that tell the truth.
