The Cape Town Concert Series second season has a proudly South African foundation bringing chamber music, Baroque and new works to the fore.

Our concert on 15 August celebrates the excellence of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra with four principal players who are amongst South Africa’s finest wind players. The CPO Wind Quartet features Gabrielle von Durckheim on flute, Lisa White – oboe, Feroll-Jon Davids – clarinet and Simon Ball – bassoon. Their “Breath of Air” will illuminate some of their favourite music by Francaix, Villa-Lobos, Arnold, Rubtsov and Auric.

The concert takes place at 11am in the Baxter Concert Hall. Refreshments are on sale, and drinks/coffee can be taken into the hall to enjoy with the music. The Cape Town Concert Series invites the audience to meet our artists in the foyer after the concert to talk more about their music.

The concert is supported by the Rupert Foundation, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and Ian Burgess-Simpson Pianos.
