There are things we dream about for a long time before we can put them into words.

In September, for the first time, I will set foot on African soil. And it’s not just a trip. It’s an encounter with a very important part of the research I’ve been building for so many years through music, records, Black culture, and the diaspora.

I’ll arrive in Cape Town, South Africa, carrying my collection, my research, and everything I’ve built over these 16 years of being on the dancefloor, listening, exchanging, and discovering.

I’ll be spending a few days immersed in music, encounters, and experiences across different spaces, sharing my perspective on Black music from Brazil and the diaspora, while also being there to listen, learn, and connect with the local scene.

This tour holds a very special meaning for me. Because, in a way, it is also a return to a place that has always been present in my music and in my existence, even while being so geographically distant.

I’m still trying to understand the magnitude of this moment.
