Doc Maclean, a blues man with a history longer than his beard, comes to share his stories and music in an intimate house concert.
Award-winning solo acoustic blues and stories by established Canadian/African international artist. Doc has performed at OppiKoppi, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Glastonbury, Montreal International Jazz & Blues Festival, Belfast International Blues Festival, and Clarksdale Cathead.
Telling songs and singing stories, this blues originated from the Mississippi delta but traces its roots back to Africa. Passed down from mouth to mouth, it’s more than music—it’s a placement of the human spirit. Doc’s early mentors were the grandchildren of slaves, and now he continues this journey between dreamscapes and songlines, between the blurs of the highway and the sounds of the wheels.
The JoJo Man Blues Tour—Doc MacLean’s sixth African tour—will see him traveling over 20,000 km by land before launching north for an epic second tour leg, including festivals and concerts in Ireland, the UK, and Europe.
Meal included in ticket (vegetarian and meat options available). Arrive at 6:00 PM (6:30 PM latest) with BYOB for sunset drinks on the beach (the venue is right on the beach). Dinner, cooked by a private chef, will be served at 7:00 PM, and music starts at 8:00 PM. Bring your own drinks.
Directions: The house number is not visible from the road as it shares a driveway with several other houses.
– If coming from Kommetjie, turn right at the “Villa Misty Cliffs” sign and head down the driveway toward the beach.
– If coming from Scarborough, turn left at the same sign just after passing house number 5. Follow the driveway all the way to the end until you reach a wooden gate marked 17.
