About Ezakwantu
Ezakwantu is an African music ensemble composed of four postgraduate musicians (Vuyisani Mkwambi, Siya Kawana, Ntombe Halam and Asiphe Ntyinkal) from the University of Cape Town, all of whom specialise in traditional African instruments.
While performing collectively as Ezakwantu, each member also maintains an active individual musical career beyond the group. Together, they celebrate the rich musical heritage of the continent through performances of rhythms, melodies, and songs drawn from various African regions.
This vocal-driven group integrates African indigenous instruments such as the uhadi, mbira, and djembe, alongside small percussion instruments including shakers, woodblocks, and other rhythmic instruments.
