Ava Like Lava (real name Ava) is an Iranian-born pop-rap artist based in Cape Town, South Africa. Known for her unique multicultural background and borderless sound, she blends alt-pop, R&B, and hip-hop with spellbinding Middle Eastern vocal and instrumental influences.

Ava’s upbringing reflects her borderless sound. She was born in Japan, spent her early childhood in Iran, and was educated in China before relocating to South Africa at the age of 18. She often incorporates Farsi into her English lyrics, resulting in a sound that feels like a spiritual, cinematic ritual.
