Friday Night Live is a series of beautiful, intimate performances from some of the most exciting talent Cape Town and South Africa has to offer, hosted at the KAYA Café. It’s an event for performers to take in their own direction, creating an environment for audiences to engage deeply with the music, the meaning, and the people behind it all.
Life is complicated, but expression isn’t.
Our sound, although rooted in punk and alternative rock, conveys the entire spectrum of human emotion. A task most are too scared to take on. Band members Louwrens Venter (guitar & backing vocals), Pierre Horne (drums) and Nathan Garrett (bass & lead vocals) tackle the feelings of 21st century life head on. Some anxious, some tender and some overwhelming. All, however, in relatable and cinematic ways.
Their new, raw formula to rock draws from a varied set of influences – from Idles to Queens of the Stone Age and The Clash to The Strokes. Their wall of sound approach is confrontational and ready for any stage; whether a small intimate space that comes alive with their raucous riffage or a festival stage where their infectious grooves and angular melodies are sure to send the crowd into frenzy.
Those that have heard them, love them. Those that haven’t, want to. And they’re sure to leave your event asking: “Who are they?”, “Where am I?”, “Why am I hot and bothered?” and “How do I hear that again?”
They’ll be joined by the incredible Static Cat who will be opening the evening. Static Cat defies genre to deliver a sound that unifies listeners from across the sonic spectrum. Known for their relentless, high octane live performances and their unconventional sound combining elements of shoegaze, grunge, punk and electronic music; they are a band that refuses to be ignored.
