LOVE PRIDE BALL CATEGORIES:
– Best Dressed (Drag King & Drag Queen of Hearts): Make our hearts flutter and skip a beat in an OVAH effect fit for royalty. Romance, drama, and regality. Serve love at first sight.
– Realness (Couples) Holy Matrimony: It’s time to tie the knot! Walk down the aisle with the love of your life and convince us your union is unbreakable. From “I do” to forever, sell the fantasy of eternal love.

– Vogue Femme (Cupid Cunt): Soft. Precise. Cunt—only. Channel Cupid’s magic through the 5 elements and serenade us with the softest, smoothest, most irresistible performance. Grace with intention.

– Sex Siren (Lace & Brace): The only thing on the menu tonight is… YOU. Brace yourself because the lace is doing the talking. Seduction, control, and undeniable allure are key.

– Runway (All Shade Is Red): It’s singles night, you’re either searching for the one or just a good time. Either way, the sexiest outfit you own is coming out. Serve ALL shades of red and make them look twice.

– Face (What That Red Lip Do): You’re getting ready for a blind date, nervous but confident. That red lip (Ruby Woo energy) is doing the heavy lifting. Skin flawless, lips lethal and hopefully unforgettable face.

WHAT IS BALLROOM?

Ballroom culture, also known as “Ball” culture, originated in the 1980s as a powerful underground movement within New York’s Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ communities. It was a radical response to exclusion, offering a space to be seen, to compete, to express, and to belong. Today, ballroom is a global celebration of identity, resilience, and artistry, where participants “walk” in categories ranging from fashion to performance, vying for trophies, recognition, and community pride.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

LEGACY is for everyone. We welcome queer and trans individuals, women, femme-presenting folks, and our straight allies. Whether you walk a category, cheer from the sidelines, or live your best life on the dance floor at the afterparty, you belong here.

ABOUT LEGACY

LEGACY is a bold and beautiful love letter to the late Kirvan Fortuin, also known as Kirvan Le Cap, the founding mother of the House of Le Cap. Co-created by Rori Bingham, a ballroom consultant and pillar in the local scene, and Edition Events, producers of LEGACY, this series of 12 events was envisioned as a safe, joyful, and affirming space for Cape Town’s trans-feminine and gender non-conforming communities.

Built on three guiding pillars:

– To celebrate and remember Kirvan Le Cap’s visionary legacy
– To honour the evolving journey of the House of Le Cap
– To nurture and expand Cape Town’s ballroom community

LEGACY is more than an event; it is a living archive of our history, a celebration of who we are, and a bold vision for where we’re going.
