This recently formed trio attempts to bring together a concept of spontaneous (improvised) composition that is at the same time always malleable. Three of SA’s top talents, Reza Khota, Sean Sanby and Asher Gamedze, formidable artists each in their own right, join forces to create something truly off the wall.

More on the Music
Taking a phrase, rhythmic motive, chordal texture or collective timbre as a springboard into the unknown, or perhaps delving into the shared collective archive of grooves and effects. Thought also as a form of orchestration, the trio incorporates expanded sonic techniques on their instruments, employing the full range available via the various forms of plucking, strumming, bowing, muting, tapping, drumming, as well as audio processing via effects pedals.
The ensemble dives head forward into the freely improvised unknown. Textures and colours might recur between performances but each musical gathering is
unique and unrepeatable. The ensemble is also an offshoot of a collaboration between Khota and Gamedze in the larger group: Free Music, Free Palestine.
The name of the ensemble reflects on the imperative to improvise and think in the moment, with agency, as an antithesis to the new forms of techno-fascism,
mechanisation and assimilation of the sensorium into the neoliberal order.
The group will release their debut album in 2026.
