Hy vertel van sy ongemaklike skoolherinneringe vol tipiese kleindorpie-chaos, verwarde liefdesstories en die ontdekking van wie hy regtig is. Die resultaat is ’n snaakse, eerlike en hartroerende blik op jong, queer grootword in Suid-Afrika.

Terug na Louis Trichardt is an intimate Afrikaans one-man comedy that follows a man on a bus ride back to his hometown and back to his flamboyant gay school friend who once turned his whole world upside down.

He shares his awkward school memories filled with typical small-town chaos, confused love stories and the discovery of who he truly is. The result is a funny, honest and heartfelt look at growing up queer in South Africa.

It is playful, nostalgic and celebrates the people who help us become who we are, even when we sometimes try so hard to avoid it.

Starring Jean-Pierre Paquot, better known simply as Paquot, in his latest one-man show Terug na Louis Trichardt. Paquot is a Bloemfontein theatre actor, director and lecturer at the University of the Free State’s Drama Department.

His recent work includes his previous one-man production House of Cards at the National Arts Festival, as well as the lead in Omhoog, which won Best Production at the Free State Arts Festival Fringe.

Directed by Ilne Fourie. Illné Fourie is an award-winning South African director with extensive experience in theatre and youth theatre. Her accolades include the Sanlam RSG Kwartkomedie Award and the US Woordfees Tienerradiodrama Award, with multiple wins in both directing and writing categories. She has directed a wide range of acclaimed comedic and dramatic productions across the country.
