The End of an Era: Saying Goodbye to Luvbuzz Studios.

It is with a heavy heart, but a deep sense of pride, that we announce the closing of Luvbuzz Studios. After three incredible years at our Yew Street home, the building is being auctioned, and continuing at this location is no longer an option. While this marks the end of Luvbuzz, it also marks the final chapter of a journey that began 18 years ago.

A Legacy of Resilience:
Since we first opened our doors in 2008 as Kill City Blues, the first commercial rehearsal space of its kind in Cape Town, this project has been built, torn down, and rebuilt three times. From our first home next to Mercury and The Shack, to our second incarnation on Hope Street, and finally to our current space in Salt River, this journey has been fueled by absolute passion and a dedication to the South African music scene.

More Than Just Four Walls:
For nearly two decades, we have been a heartbeat for the alternative scene. We have watched bands start from their very first chord, seen some fade away, and cheered as others rose to greatness. We’ve always believed that anyone with the guts to pursue their passion deserves a space to do so. Whether those songs were heard by thousands or just a few, that music has left a unique stamp on the world, and we are honored to have played a part in that.

Looking Forward:
While George is officially retiring from the rehearsal space domain to focus on events and other musical ventures, the spirit of what we built will continue. George will be consulting with a new team currently planning a fresh rehearsal space to fly the flag and ensure Cape Town’s artists still have a home to hone their craft. This will be their baby and we are excited for new passion and energy to drive the scene.

The Final Send-Off:
We cannot thank you enough, here are simply too many people to name who made Kill City and Luvbuzz possible. We’ve weathered the tough times and celebrated the great ones together. Now, we want to say goodbye in true fashion with this final event:
