Yoga is a beautiful practice of getting the body in motion in order to remember your innate connection to all that is. It is a shortcut to the receptive mode, which is the delicious vantage point from which we stop pinching ourselves off from all that we are desiring and asking for from life.
The frustration of feeling disconnected from your creativity is one all creatives know – whether it’s through a state of just being uninspired, not having the capacity to create, or the blunt feeling of creative resistance that shows up when we feel like our ideas are not good – or ready or novel or refined – enough. The disconnection becomes exacerbated when we feel pulled in every direction by work, school, and other facets of the enigma that is being an adult.
When we experience this kind of fatigue – which shows up emotionally and mentally – the go-to remedy of sleep alone is not enough to revive our exhausted and burnt out creative selves. Mindfulness practices are the medicine and provide mental, spiritual and creative rest – three of the seven kinds of rest – through quieting the busy mind, and cultivating stillness that allows us to return to our bodies. A return to your creativity is really coming home to yourself and reawakening to your abundance.
On May 22nd, we gather for one hour to create space for your mind to let go, to release the tension of expectation, and to allow re-emergence into curiosity. The yoga flow will draw awareness to the physical tension we might be holding in the body, and as we soften we give our minds the opportunity to do nothing and simply be. The only request is to arrive as you are because all that matters is how you choose to show up in the present.
