A Public Lecture in Celebration of World Environment Day: Climate Action Through Trees and Environmental Stewardship

Join us for a special World Environment Day celebration at the iconic Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, featuring two expert guest speakers sharing powerful insights on climate action.

Hosted by the Botanical Society of South Africa (Kirstenbosch Branch) in partnership with the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), this inspiring public lecture brings together leading voices in environmental practice and conservation.

Featuring Guest Speakers:
– Francois Krige (Arborist & Tree-Care Specialist): With extensive hands-on experience in managing and preserving trees in urban and cultivated environments, Mr. Krige will explore:
* The vital role trees play in climate resilience
* How we can better protect trees under environmental stress
* Practical approaches to sustainable tree management

– Clare Burgess (A complementary expert perspective): Our second guest speaker will add further depth to the conversation on climate action and environmental stewardship, offering additional insights into conservation, sustainability, and ecological resilience.

What to expect:
– Two engaging 20-minute talks by expert speakers
– Q&A with both speakers
– Real-world insights into climate action and environmental care
– An opportunity to connect with like-minded nature enthusiasts
– Light refreshments will be served

Why Attend? Climate change is one of the defining challenges of our time—and trees are part of the solution. This event offers practical knowledge, inspiration, and a deeper understanding of how individuals and communities can contribute to meaningful environmental action.
