The Diary of a Hopeless Romantic begins with Run.

On 17 September, Tanaka presents Chapter One: Run at Kaapstad Toneelhuis; an intimate evening of film, music and storytelling marking the beginning of a new body of work.

The evening opens with the premiere of two interconnected films: a short prologue introducing the world of The Diary of a Hopeless Romantic, followed by the official film for Tanaka’s new single, Run.

Together, the films explore memory, longing, romance and the strange distance that can exist between two people trying to reach one another.

Following the screening, Tanaka will take to the stage for an intimate live performance with his band, bringing the world of Run from screen to stage.

This is the first chapter of The Diary of a Hopeless Romantic, and the first opportunity to experience the project as it was intended: not simply as a song, but as a story.
