About A Legacy in Every Note

A Legacy in Every Note – McCoy Mrubata & Gary Wittner Celebrate 20 Years of Musical Brotherhood

Likwezi Arts and café Roux proudly present A Legacy in Every Note — a special celebration honoring two decades of musical collaboration and friendship between celebrated South African saxophonist and acclaimed American guitar virtuoso.

Their musical journey began over 20 years ago, forged through a shared passion for jazz, African rhythms, and improvisation. Over the years, the two artists have travelled between South Africa and the United States, performing together in renowned venues, festivals, and intimate listening spaces, building a friendship that transcends borders and generations. Their connection is reflected in every performance — a conversation between saxophone and guitar shaped by decades of trust, creativity, and musical excellence.

Now, this remarkable partnership comes to the intimate stage of café Roux in the beautiful Farm Village setting, where every note can be fully experienced and appreciated. Audiences are invited to witness a rare meeting of masters in a warm atmosphere known for exceptional live music, delicious meals, fine drinks, and unforgettable moments.

Joining these legendary musicians are two of Cape Town’s finest rhythm section players — talented bassist and dynamic drummer — promising an evening rich in groove, storytelling, and world-class musicianship.

Bring your family and friends and become part of an unforgettable celebration of friendship, artistry, and decades of music-making.
