Cape Town’s legendary improvisation troupe, ImproGuise, is opening the doors to somewhere entirely new this February — a town that has never existed before and will never exist again. Welcome to Fake Place.
 

This February, ImproGuise takes to the stage at The Galloway Theatre with a hilarious, improvised theatrical experience where the setting, the people, and the story are conjured live, in the moment, from audience suggestions. No script. No plan. No idea what’s coming next.
 

Each performance begins with a simple question: where are we? From there, a fictional town is born — complete with its own oddball residents, tangled relationships, whispered secrets, and deeply questionable life choices. What unfolds is a hilarious, heartfelt, and utterly unpredictable story shaped in real time before the audience’s eyes.
 

Expect a parade of eccentric characters, unexpected twists, and moments of surprising truth emerging from total fiction. One night you may find yourself in a dusty Karoo outpost where the mayor hasn’t been seen in years. The next, a seaside village where everyone claims to be related — and no one agrees how.
 

ImproGuise, Cape Town’s longest-running improv company, is renowned for its sharp wit, fearless spontaneity, and ability to transform the smallest suggestion into a fully realised theatrical world. Their shows blend comedy, storytelling, and theatrical craft into a shared experience that exists only once.
